VOLUNTEERING
Volunteering and serving on a team is one of the best ways to connect with people. Everyone was born with unique skills and gifts that we can bring to a team and together play a role in the story of God’s kingdom.
HOW TO VOLUNTEER
-
At EncounterCC, protecting our vulnerable people and our volunteers is our top priority. It is important that people feel safe to be here, and safe to serve here.
To fulfill our duty of care, we have a few requirements for all of our 18+ volunteers:
A signed volunteer’s agreement
A current ‘Working With Children Check’ with Encounter Christian Church listed as an organisation.
A recent Police Check.
Completing Safe Ministry Check’s ‘Volunteer & Leader Training’ course.
Being added to our Elvanto database, a church management system that we use for rostering our teams.
If you are younger than 18 years old, then we only need a ‘Volunteers Declaration’ signed by a Parent/Guardian and the creation of an Elvanto account. If you are 17 years old, we recommend starting the process early to ensure all requirements are met to avoid issues when you turn 18.

The volunteers form contains several legal declarations about our legal obligations, our duty of care, and a ‘Code of Conduct’ designed to create safe physical & emotional environments.
The volunteer declaration form also provides us your details for Elvanto and our Safe Ministry Check databases.

All of our teams interact with minors, not just the Equip Kids Team, protecting these vulnerable people is our top priority, and the ‘Working with Children Check’ is a key part of that.
The WCC has an initial background check when first applying that screens a person’s history to ensure that the do not pose a risk to our children. Once a WCC check is approved it then provide a ongoing screening that will notify us of any changes to this persons ability to work with children, at which point they will be removed from their team.

Anybody with a heart for the church is welcome at Encounter. But we can’t compromise the safety of our members and guests. The Police check informs us of any disclosable criminal convictions.
Jesus saves, People change, and we don’t want to let a persons history stop them from being equipped and empowered to be all that God has created them to be, but this may limit which areas a person can volunteer for. The results of this check can vary greatly, conversations will be had and decisions will be decided on a case by case basis.
-
Safer Ministry Check is a service that helps our volunteers get compliant, and stay up to date.
Safer Ministry Check also has a mandatory training course that all of our volunteers and leaders are required to complete. It informs our volunteers on; risk prevention, response procedures, and ethical standards.
This course is important protecting both our vulnerable people and our volunteers by informing our volunteers of their duty of care and their points of contacts if they have any concerns.
-
Elvanto is a service that we use for rostering and contacting our volunteers.
In Elvanto your can find out when your rostered, put in your unavailabilities, and put in your scheduling preferences that set how often you wish to serve.
Your Elvanto profile is also synced with your Safe Ministry Check profile.
